Once digital files have been prepared, we go through a sequence of procedures in order to prepare for printing. We manage our whole pre-press operation using Compose Express WorkFlow, which integrates proofing, imposition, trapping and plate production. This ensures that all orders are progressed quickly and reliably.

Proofing
Prior to running out hard-copy proofs, we normally send PDFs via email to enable our customers to check layout and spelling. In addition to colour laser proofing facilities, we use the Star Proof digital proofing system, which incorporates a dedicated inkjet printer calibrated to our press. This unique method of reproducing high-resolution separations on the inkjet printer - dot for dot - enables us to produce colour accurate proofs of the highest standard. We can achieve superb image reproduction, 1pt text, blacks, greys, trapping, overprints and even defects such as Moiré patterns, so our customers can assess proofs quickly and easily.

- the type of paper and the grain direction
- special finishes (e.g. spot UV varnish, die cutting, embossing)
- Ink colour and density
- Screening and tints'

Computer to Plate
Our Presstek Dimension 400 computer to plate system provides the speed, versatility and performance required by our customers. The plates are made using the same ripped file as the proof, thus ruling out any chance of potential problems caused by re-ripping of the files. The process is environmentally friendly, requiring no chemicals or gumming. This means that we can offer our customers a cleaner operation combined with higher productivity, consistency and truly superb quality.
