Restoring Your iPod

For Mac:

  • Always use the latest version of iTunes.

  • Open iTunes and connect your iPod to your computer.

  • The iPod will appear in the device list in iTunes. If the iPod doesn't show up you may have to put it in disk mode, depending on your model.

  • Select your iPod from the device list. Once selected you should see the summary tab appear in the main iTunes window. Press the restore button in the window.

  • You will need to enter your username and password.
  • If a progress bar appears on the screen, this indicates that the first stage of the restore process has started. Once this has finished it will ask you to leave your iPod connected to complete the restore.
  • Once you have reached the second stage, the iPod will show an Apple logo along with the progress bar at the bottom of the screen. Keep your iPod connected at all times. This may take a few minutes.
  • After stage 2 of the restore process is complete, the iPod should reconnect to the computer. The iTunes Setup Assistant window will then show up asking you to name your iPod and to choose your syncing preferences, just like when you connected your iPod for the first time.
