Putting Your iPod into Disk Mode
When you are having an issue with our iPod it can sometimes be useful to put the iPod into Disk Mode. This can be easily done by following these simple steps.
Putting iPods with a Click Wheel into Disk Mode
-
Firstly, ensure that your iPod is fully charged before placing it into disk mode.
-
Turn the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again).
-
Hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds or until the Apple logo appears.
-
Once the Apple logo appears, let go of the Menu and Select buttons and straight away press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
-
The iPod now needs to be connected to a computer; the screen on the iPod will change and say "Do not disconnect".
Useful Tips:-
If you are struggling to put the iPod model into disk mode, try setting the iPod on a flat surface. Ensure that the finger holding the Select button is not touching the Click Wheel. In conjunction with that, try to press the Play/Pause button toward the outside of the Click Wheel and not near the centre.
Another tip when trying to put your iPod into Disk Mode is to use one finger from one hand to press the Select button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Play/Pause button.
